Poni - UK's first ever artist sponsored by a Shdy...

d**n, the Americans are after us! Read on people, as Poni, the UK's FIRST ever artist to be sponsored by a Shady Record's producer (yea that's right, Eminem's camp!), reveals her talent, skills and will to represent for the UK – right! Breakdown
Hi. I'm Poni, a rapper, lyricist and songwriter from East London, doing my thing locally and globally to make music for the world. I stay creative while Fiona (my manager) keeps everything on a roll, so my firm's real tight. We're marketing, promoting and spreading my music uniquely to all reachable areas, whether it's across seas, or on our home ground – we're breaking it. The name `Poni' was tagged onto me aged 14, by a rapper called Chrome Killa, `cos I can ride over any rhythm. My tracks and flows are straight hip hop, I've got a strong vocal AND still sound like where I'm from! The World Should Ride My Pony Because: I'm hot, buff and ready to erupt. I`ve got hard, street and explosive lyrics. I rap about personal things we all think about; difference is - I'm broadcasting it. I like to flip things differently, create a whole new edge to rap, take it to an international collaborating status. I fuse ideas too, making catchy, off the wall narrative songs.

I Just Love:
Living life to the fullest! I love artists that do that too…2Pac had unforgettable poetry, Biggie's flows still kick it today, Wu Tang, Outkast, Gravediggaz, Boot Camp click (I'm overstanding them), 50 Cent's tight hooks and Eminem's mad dynamics. Lil' Kim, Eve & Trina have that `women's liberation' locked down, Redman and Busta's energetic tongue twisters. I like to sip white wine, party and write rhymes. I love to travel, I leave the country like 4-5 times a year, it develops me as a person - I write bangin' songs when I'm away, it's inspiring. I'm always running up on mad dramas and I basically try to have a lot of fun in my life. I'ma Make A Difference To This Industry In The Future - You'll See: I've been working on various projects, been doing nuff shows and was a support act for Dru Hill last May in Liverpool. In June 2003, my manager hooked up a meeting with D12, so I ended up working with Denaun Porter, (Kon Artis of D12). Denaun was the first to team up with Emimen while he was forming D12, he also produced tracks on all of Eminem's albums, D12's LP, 50's `P.I.M.P' and G-Units `Stunt 101'. We flew to Detroit last September and I recorded at their studio, with my production sponsored and produced by Denaun. As you can imagine, it was a great experience. We've met and socialised with artists like 50, Lloyd Banks, D12, Obie Trice, Chuck D, N.O.R.E, DJ Kool, Dru Hill, Red Man, Method Man, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, Mos Def and De La Soul. I enjoy being around other artists, they give me a direct insight of what the music business is really about, plus we have things in common: being creative and making hot tracks, we've all got something to say! I've got albums worth of material! Right now my tracks are circulating the airwaves and club nights, so keep your ear to the street…
