Eminem's ex-wife was ordered jailed without bond
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — Hip-hop superstar Eminem's ex-wife was ordered jailed without bond Friday after admitting to her probation agent that she was using cocaine, the Michigan Department of Corrections said.
Kimberly Mathers tested positive for cocaine after being given a urine test during a Jan. 29 meeting with the probation agent, Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan said. She missed a scheduled meeting Thursday but met with the agent Friday and admitted using cocaine, he said.
The test showed cocaine had been in her system between 12 and 72 hours, Marlan said.Mathers was being held in the Macomb County Jail pending a Feb. 12 hearing before Circuit Judge Edward Servitto. She could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, Marlan said.
Mathers, 28, was sentenced on Jan. 21 to two years' probation after pleading guilty to charges of possessing 25 grams or less of cocaine and failing to give adequate space to an emergency vehicle. The charges stemmed from a June traffic stop in St. Clair Shores.
Among other conditions of her probation, Mathers was barred from using alcohol or non-prescription drugs and ordered to undergo random drug testing.
Defense attorney Michael Sinutko did not return a telephone message left after business hours at his office Friday.
Mathers and Eminem, whose legal name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, have a daughter, 8-year-old Hailie Jade Mathers.
