Eminem Joins Simmons HSAN In Detroit
Controversial rapper Eminem and thirty hip-hop artists and music industry executives convened on Detroit this weekend to attend Russell Simmons' second Detroit Hip-Hop Summit.
"This is the best generation the world has ever seen," said Simmons, chairman of the HSAN. What they will see in November is that this is the most powerful generation the world has ever seen."
The summit hit Detroit's Fox Theater this Saturday to push voter registration and address social, economic and political issues. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick attended the capacity event, including D-12's Proof, Swift, Bizarre and Kuniva, G-Unit's Lloyd Banks and Young Buck, the Ying Yang Twins, Obie Trice, Bizzy Bone, Lil' Scrappy, Sara Stokes of Da Band, Paul Rosenberg, CEO of Shady Records and Chris Lighty, CEO of Violator Records.
The HSAN has registered more than 75,000 new voters throughout the state of Michigan and in the city of Detroit since their 2003 summit. The next summit will be in Columbus, Ohio on June 3rd.
