Re: Eminem's Mom, Mugger Gets 4 Years
Eminem's mom indicated that she didn't want the kid who recently carjacked her to go to jail, but a Detroit judge disagreed and sentenced the 16-year-old boy to more than four years in prison.
The judge handed 16-year old James Antonio Knott a fine of $3,473 to pay Eminem's mother, Debbie Nelson, in connection with the January 22nd attack. The teen pled guilty to carjacking and robbing Nelson who was dragged from her vehicle and sustained bruises and a broken foot.
Weeks after the attack, Eminem's mom stated she didn't believe the teen should be sentenced to jail, but instead should be rehabilitated. However, Michigan law prohibited the judge from offering such a light sentence on felony robbery charges and the teen received a ruling of 4 years and 3 months in prison.
Eminem, who is estranged from his mother, offered no comment on the case.
