MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - Eminem (news - web sites)'s ex-wife was back
behind bars after Macomb County authorities said she dropped out of a
court-ordered drug treatment program.
Kimberly Mathers was released from jail March 1 to attend the program
after being convicted of using cocaine while on probation.
Macomb County Circuit Judge Edward Servitto on Feb. 12 ordered her to
serve 30 days in the county jail and then transfer to an inpatient
substance abuse treatment program for an additional 90 days.
On Tuesday, she was back in the Macomb County Jail.
"For whatever reason, she left the program she was attending so the
judge ordered her back to jail," Capt. John Roberts, the jail
commander, told The Detroit News for a Thursday story. "For right
now, it's ordered by the judge that she complete her sentence in
jail."
A message seeking comment was left Thursday morning with an attorney
for Mathers.
Mathers was sentenced Jan. 21 to two years' probation after pleading
guilty to charges of possessing 25 grams or less of cocaine and
failing to give adequate space to an emergency vehicle. The charges
came from a June traffic stop in St. Clair Shores.
The 28-year-old ex-wife of rapper Eminem also was barred from using
alcohol or nonprescription drugs and must undergo random drug testing
during her probation. Her sentence is up on May 12.
Mathers and Eminem, whose legal name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III,
have a daughter, Hailie Jade Mathers.
